Alldressed Up : summer 2008
• 13 avr, 2008 • Catégorie: Paris: what's hot? •
Imagine a world of vivid colors, in swirling shades of turquoise, saffron and deep purple, contrasting yet blending seamlessly with the natural earth and azure sky. Time stands still, the world drifts and the air whispers softly along the skin. The mood is relaxed, dreamy yet startling.
The spring summer 2008 collection draws inspiration from the nomadic tribes that roamed along the Silk Road for centuries past, trading between the eastern and western worlds, dressed in strong clashing colors that emote life and passion amidst the endless desert plains, grasslands and grey seas.
Main collection
While unexpected color blocks clamor for attention, the mood is softened by smocking, twisting and ruched details applied on collars, sleeves and hems of breezy tops and dresses. Fabric in light cotton voile, shimmering jersey, waxed linen and wet-look leather thrown into the eclectic mix add a strong contemporary feel, and silhouettes are kept relaxed and slouchy without losing urbanity, femininity and charm.
Accessories
Necklaces feature unusual and striking combinations of material - of grosgrain ribbon and knotted leather in both pastel shades and deep hues; stones and beads of natural earthy colors on wet-look leather; and chains encased in light mesh fabric.
Broad wrist cuffs are handled in smocked and twisted nappa leather in natural hues.
On bags and clutches, the smocking and twisted details are applied on canvas, nappa and wrinkled jelly patent leather in slouchy shapes and embellished with stones.
Francesca V. for alldressedup
This season also marks the exciting debut of the capsule collection by Francesca Versace, a collaboration made all the more significant given her Versace family legacy and heritage, and recent highly-publicized graduation from the illustrious Central Saint Martins.
A modern interpretation of the turban formed the mainstay of Francesca Versace’s designs, marked by pleated and folded “turban” details along necklines and hemlines, but not straying far from the Silk Road color inspiration and fabric used in the main collection. Add gold Lurex, modern detailing and strong silhouette for a relaxed, sexy glamour that takes you from day to night
